Chronic illness and pain may have impacted your life’s journey, but there is hope to continue moving forward

Psychotherapy for chronic illness, pain, caregiver support, and more—in person in Tempe, and virtually across Arizona

The losses, the limitations, the what-ifs—on top of the exhausting task of navigating the healthcare system.

Or maybe it’s the feelings of falling short as a caregiver while trying to keep up with everything else in your life.

Specialized psychotherapy—with someone who truly gets it—can help you feel seen, understood, and less alone.

It’s about creating effective coping strategies, improving your quality of life, and truly feeling hopeful that things can get better.

Through evidence-informed approaches, like somatic interventions, mindfulness-based CBT, and compassion and parts work, we will work together toward overall improvement in your physical and mental health.

I'm grateful to lean on both my lived experience and 17+ years of professional experience as I walk alongside you in your healing.

Why spend another moment

Fighting flare-ups and pain, and resisting their impact as if acceptance means giving up. (In reality, it's the first step toward improvement. There is hope.)

→ Feeling frozen in the feelings related to the daily challenges and limitations.

Grieving the way things used to be.

→ Feeling overwhelmed with the weight of caring for your loved one and the desire to do well by them.

→ Juggling your caregiver role and all other areas of your life. Feeling like you're falling short.

→ Feeling overwhelmed and stuck in the weight of it all, unsure of how to move forward.

Some topics we may discuss in session

  • → How to feel empowered through the situation, even when it’s not the one you would’ve chosen.

  • → Why accepting is not giving up. It is meeting the situation with compassion, right where you are today.

  • → How being truly seen and understood in this season can lift a quiet weight you’ve been carrying.

  • → My top strategies for coping with change, uncertainty, and grief.

  • → Why strength is not about being tough; it's about adapting and pivoting.

  • → How to fully give yourself permission to grieve and honor your losses (hopes, dreams, physical abilities, and loved ones).

  • → The truth behind why sitting with discomfort helps us move through it faster, rather than fighting it.

  • → A deep dive into self-validation and compassion as you move through this season.

  • → How individual, cultural, and spiritual values can greatly impact your journey, and how to honor them.

  • → How focusing on your mental health can actually decrease flare-ups, symptoms, and pain duration.

  • → Simple steps to enhance your quality of life, even on tough days.

  • → How we work together to support your daily routines, boost your independence, and tackle the real-life factors that impact your health.

  • → The mental and emotional load of being a caregiver.

  • → Understanding how additional social and systemic barriers can further challenge your situation.

  • → How therapy can empower you to adjust, cope, and thrive—right alongside your or your loved one’s health challenge.

Meet Your Therapist

Hi, I’m Angela Salomon PsyD, LAC.

My own story of being the primary caregiver for family members with cancer and dementia, and later facing my own chronic illness, has shaped not only my path—but my heart for others experiencing similar events. This work isn’t just something I do, it’s something I truly understand

Supporting individuals and families living with or caregiving for a member with chronic illness is personal, meaningful, and held with deep compassion.

My hope is to walk alongside you—to support you in navigating the overwhelm, and make room for hope and strength in the midst of it all. You don’t have to carry this alone, I see you.

  • → Doctorate in Clinical Psychology

→ Master of Arts in Professional Counseling
